Thank you for your interest in a private session with me!
I first connected with clay in 2019, while I was an undergad at Florida International University. My practice has always been experimental, multidisciplinary, and rooted in material-research. It was there that I began my years-long study of kaolin epk and its history as a healing and medicinal body for Black & Afro-Indigenous communities across the Americas as a way to repair the effects of institutional apathy and trauma inflicted on Black and Brown bodies, particularly within the context of the medical industrial complex. Through these studies and travels to motherlands in the Caribbean and South America, clay revealed itself as a portal; to ancestral knowledge, healing, a deep understanding of the land, and to the histories it holds across waters.

I have been teaching wheel-throwing and hand-building since 2022.
I have taught one-time classes, 4- & 5-week courses, and facilitated experimental, relationship-building clay exercises in various ceramics studios & art spaces across Miami (including Mercy Pottery, Florida International University, the Institute of Contemporary Art, DASH, and Finca Morada); at Ox-Bow’s School of Art and Artists’ Residency in Saugatuk, MI; as well as in Chautauqua, NY, as part of the Chautauqua Institution’s Artist Residency, where I co-led intensive, weekly wheel-throwing classes for two summers.

In all sessions, we will
Study our clay materials– where it comes from, mining processes, its geological history, its cultural history, as well as ground ourselves in its and our current context. Why this clay and why now?
Nurture a deep understanding of clay as a living body – how to listen, feel, and breathe with the material as you enter into a creative relationship.
Engage prompts & writing exercises throughout to explore your internal landscape, as well as keep a record of your sketches, ideas, and inspirations while you complete a project and/or are learning a new skill.
connection & skill-building
I offer support with nurturing skills in clay work, both through hand-building and wheel-throwing.
experimental & exploratory sessions
immersions in nature
somatic grounding exercises
explore ephemerality
for groups:
